Today American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) announced the first ever Center for Leadership and Professional Development (CLPD) that will bring internationally recognized training programs to Cambodia in order to help developing a new generation of world-class working professionals in the country.
The scope of key offerings will be in priority areas such as general management, leadership development, project and program management, communication and negotiation skills, human resource management, and financial management. The center will also offer sector specific programs in tourism and aviation, teacher and school development, and management programs for key industries such as hospitality, travel and tourism, construction, and agriculture.
While the planned average CLPD prices will be slightly above competition, they still offer a great value-for- money compared to what Cambodian companies are paying when sending their staff to overseas or neighboring countries for none-specialized or highly skilled types of training.
In Addition, AUPP is developing international partnerships to offer jointly awarded course certificates and diplomas that meet international standards. The CLPD has already been accredited as an Authorized Training Center for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and as a result will deliver high quality IATA courses in the areas of Cabin Crew and Hospitality training. Furthermore, other International partnerships are currently being developed.
The CLPD will be headquartered in Phnom Penh – Cambodia with its offices (and training facilities) shared at AUPP’s campus, which is set to be completed early to mid-2017. First programs are tentatively set to commence in the first quarter of 2017. The CLPD will have the possibility to deliver capacity building services in other neighboring Southeast Asia countries (e.g. Laos) on a business need basis.
